Aurora
Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and sometimes stylized with lowercase letters, such in the form of AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves has been released by Decca Records and was well welcomed by blogs about music. The singer has released a number of high-profile songs as covers, like Half the World Away (by the band Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert and Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that were widely appreciated. Katy Perry posted a video where she was announcing her endorsement of Runaway. This brought her some attention. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano within her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to play music only for fun or for the sake of growth but rather, she was encouraged to explore it. For this reason, she began writing original compositions. Her sources include noted writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, as well as her affinity with Bjork's style. In response to her mother's suggestion that she should not be aiming at achieving fame through their songwriting skills, she instead realize the importance of themselves and the impact they have on society. The piano was her first instrument at age six and writing music at age nine. Her family didn't know until the age of 14. Aurora's fame was not her dream. She claims that she enjoys writing songs. She says that music is her most preferred way of feeling something.
